Mike Chernoff is a former general manager of the Cleveland Guardians (formerly the Cleveland Indians) baseball team. He was born on February 21, 1981, and is known for his innovative and analytical approach to building and managing baseball teams. Chernoff studied at Princeton University and later earned a law degree from Tulane University. He joined the Guardians organization in 2003 and rose through the ranks to become the team's general manager in 2015.
During his tenure as general manager, Chernoff helped guide the Guardians to several successful seasons, including a trip to the World Series in 2016. He is credited with implementing data-driven decision-making processes and fostering a collaborative and forward-thinking organizational culture within the team.
In November 2021, Chernoff announced that he would be stepping down from his role as general manager to spend more time with his family. He remains with the Guardians organization in an advisory role.
